Roger L. Shoemaker, president and chief executive officer of Kolene Corp., Detroit, Mich., announced that Robert H. Shoemaker, chairman of Kolene Corp., passed away on April 6 in Naples, Fla., following a brief illness. Robert H. Shoemaker began his career with Kolene in 1940 and, along with his father, John H. Shoemaker, established Kolene as a leader in the use of molten salt bath technology for industrial applications ranging from casting cleaning for military ships to coatings removal and stainless steel processing. Robert H. Shoemaker succeeded his father as president of the company in 1969 and, from 1988 until his death, served as chairman of the board. During his work career, he was active in numerous industry associations, including ASM International (formerly American Society of Metals).
