Akzo Nobel Automotive Plastic Coatings and Car Refinishes North America has opened a new production facility expansion in Pontiac, Michigan. The expansion adds 11,000 sq. ft. of production space, enabling an additional 150,000 gallons of capacity.

According to the company, an Automatic Dosing Unit (ADU) blending site reduces batch making times, while at the same time improving the consistency and quality of the products. The new facility contains waterborne production capabilities to support the growing interior waterborne coatings segment and position the production capabilities to support future waterborne exterior topcoat activities. The expansion includes a centralized quality control laboratory with advanced application facilities to better integrate the production and QC processes and insure an accurate correlation to the customer process.
