Dow Corning Corp. will participate in the 10th Annual International Coatings for Plastics Symposium, hosted by Finishing Today’s sister publication, Paint & Coatings Industry, June 13-15, 2007 in Chicago, IL. Steven R. Block of Dow Corning’s Fluorine Business Program will present “New Chemistry Improves Surface Performance” at 8:30 a.m., June 15.

The presentation, based on work by Dow Corning and Daikin Industries, Ltd., will focus on recent developments that might offer new opportunities for coatings, specifically by taking advantage of synergistic effects between silicone and fluorine chemistries. Block will note that silicone-cure fluoro-polymer resins can broaden the plastic-coating application range by providing improved surface performance in construction, chemical processing, automotive, electronics, and other uses. The new technology will be shown to enhance the hydrophilic, anti-staining, low dirt-pickup, chemical resistance, ease of cleaning, and anti-graffiti properties of the coatings.
