Dow Corning Corp. will participate in the Protective Coatings Conference this October with a presentation by Steven R. Block of the company’s Fluorine Business Program. Block will present “New Chemistry Improves Surface Performance” during Session 4: Applications in Service, taking place at 9 a.m., October 25.

The presentation, based on work by Dow Corning and Daikin Industries, Ltd., will focus on recent developments that may offer exciting opportunities for exterior coatings applications, specifically by taking advantage of synergistic effects between silicone and fluorine chemistries. Block will note that silicone-cure fluorine resin technology for coatings applications can significantly increase corrosion resistance of underlying substrates. Flexibility, high gloss and gloss retention, low dirt-pickup, and chemical resistance are other key improvements achieved with this new technology. The conference’s theme is “Protecting the Substrate and the Environment” and includes a two-day technical program covering new developments in high-performance coatings for the protection of structural steel and concrete. The event will take place at the Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Aan de Amstel in Amsterdam. For more information about the program, visitwww.pra-world.com/conferences/protectivecoatings.
