PPG Industries Coil and Extrusion Coatings has introduced a seacoast corrosion warranty for factory-applied spray coatings purchased through PPG CAP Certified Applicator Program members. The warranty covers Duranar, Duranar Sunstorm, Duranar XL and Duranar XLBC coatings applied in normal and industrial environments. Additionally, Duranar spray coatings applied by PPG CAP program members will be covered under warranty for five years longer than those applied by non-members.

The seacoast warranty applies only to Duranar coatings products that are properly factory-applied. The aluminum substrates to which coatings are applied must be properly cleaned and primed, and they must use PPG's proven flash primer technology along with the specified pre-treatment. If these conditions are met, the warranty asserts that Duranar coatings:

• Will not peel, check or crack
• Will not chalk in excess of numerical rating 8, as measured by ASTM D4214 procedures (Method D659)
• Will not fade or change color in excess of five DE units, as measured by ASTM D2244
• Will not corrode in excess of numerical rating 6 on cut edges and numerical rating 7 on field surfaces, as measured using ASTM D1654 procedures.

The expanded warranty is one of several enhancements to the PPG CAP program, which also includes a new field repair program and accelerated service for color samples.
