DuBois Chemicals has launched a new process called Zirconization for paint pretreatment and surface finishing systems that will allow finishing professionals to run their metal pretreatment operations in a high-performing, low-temperature and phosphate-free environment. This new process uses a new product, DuraTEC 100, which is a patent-pending metal pretreatment replacement for iron phosphate. According to the company, the process provides enhanced corrosion resistance and paint adhesion when compared to traditional iron phosphate.

DuraTEC 100, as part of the Zirconization process, reportedly delivers high value in a lean manufacturing environment by providing energy savings through a reduction in the heat needed to pretreat parts prior to painting. The improved chemical efficiency of the process provides additional cost savings. The new process helps to protect the environment as a green alternative to traditional iron phosphate by featuring a phosphate-free formula, low energy consumption and significantly lower sludge.
