The PosiTector 200 from DeFelsko Corp. conforms to a new standard for ultrasonic dry film thickness (DFT) gages published by the Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC), entitled “SSPC-PA 9, Measurement of Dry Coating Thickness on Cementitious Substrates Using Ultrasonic Gages.”

The PosiTector 200 from DeFelsko Corp. conforms to a new standard for ultrasonic dry film thickness (DFT) gages published by the Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC), entitled “SSPC-PA 9, Measurement of Dry Coating Thickness on Cementitious Substrates Using Ultrasonic Gages.” Similar to PA 2, one of the most widely used SSPC standards, PA 9 addresses a popular new method of testing the thickness of coatings on concrete using ultrasound. It describes procedures for calibration, adjustment and general use of ultrasound instruments as described in ASTM D6132 and focuses on the correct method for taking measurements. Described procedures include criteria for determining the number of measurements, location of measurements, and whether the dry film thickness (DFT) of the coating conforms to project specifications.

According to DeFelsko, the PosiTector 200 is available with either standard or advanced features and the choice of two measuring ranges. New features include extended range probes, large impact-resistant Lexan® display, IP5X ingress protection and protective rubber holster. In addition to PA 9, the instrument also conforms to ASTM D6132 and ISO 2808.
