PITTSBURGH – PPG Industries’ coil and extrusion coatings group received a 2012 Chairman’s Award from the Metal Construction Association (MCA) at METALCON, an annual conference dedicated to metal construction products, technologies and solutions.
PPG supplied coatings for the Port Pavilion at Broadway Pier in San Diego, which earned the Chairman’s Award in the municipal building category. A 52,000-square-foot structure painted with DURANAR® VARI-COOL® coatings by PPG, Port Pavilion contains a passenger facility for cruise ships as well as an office for U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The project was cited for its striking visual appearance, sustainability and use of conventional materials to “create a modern-looking building originating from a 90-year-old pier.”
