CHICAGO – The Valspar Corp., sponsor of the Valspar Championship through 2017, is committed to bringing the transformative power of color to the tournament, both on and off the course. To kick-off the inaugural Valspar Championship, Valspar and longstanding partner Habitat for Humanity, PGA TOUR Wives Association, PGA TOUR players and Habitat families, joined together for a Habitat community build in the Tampa Bay area.

“At Valspar, we believe that color has power to change lives. We are proud to join forces with Habitat for Humanity to bring a little more color into the homes of the Tampa Bay community,” said Gary Hendrickson, Chairman and CEO, Valspar Corp. “As Habitat for Humanity’s national paint partner, we are committed to helping transform every house into a home by providing paint for all Habitat homes built in the United States.”

The Habitat for Humanity build took place in a unique community comprised exclusively of Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County homes consisting of neighbors who invest “sweat equity,” helping each other construct their homes and instilling pride and ownership into the neighborhood. Valspar and Habitat brought together these community members, PGA TOUR players and the PGA TOUR Wives Association, a non-profit organization committed to charitable community efforts, to create decent, safe and affordable shelter.

Valspar further demonstrated its commitment to Habitat for Humanity at the Valspar Championship Expo Tent, an interactive area within the tournament where guests were invited to learn more about Valspar and Habitat. Valspar Championship attendees had the opportunity to support Habitat for Humanity by participating in the “Valspar Putt for Habitat Challenge,” in which Valspar donated $5 to Habitat for every putt made, up to $15,000.

The Expo Tent also housed to a series of interactive experiences, part of the “colorful course makeover” Valspar brought to the tournament. The Valspar Championship featured vibrant Valspar hues on nearly everything from tee markers and tee monuments, to tent gables and caddy bibs, truly making the tournament “the most colorful PGA TOUR tournament in the world.”
