CLEVELAND - ICI Paints said it has donated nearly 40,000 gallons of paint to Habitat for Humanity International in the first two years of an ongoing program established to assist the nonprofit organization.

In all, ICI Paints has donated nearly $500,000 worth of paint and related products to Habitat for Humanity affiliates over the past two years, the company said.

ICI Paints has made donations of paint to Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Boston; Charlotte, NC; Cleveland; Columbus, OH; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Fort Worth; Fresno, CA; Houston; Los Angeles; New Orleans; Sacramento; St. Louis; San Antonio, TX; San Francisco; and Tampa, FL. The company said the donations supplied the paint needs for every house built by Habitat for Humanity in those communities during 2003 and 2004.

In addition, ICI Paints launched a national program that provides a discount of approximately 50% off the retail price of paint for Habitat for Humanity affiliates that did not receive donated paint.

ICI Paints said it has also supported Habitat for Humanity with other in-kind donations, including more than 400 surplus protective work gloves to the international Habitat office and more than $17,000 worth of surplus paint-related equipment such as brushes, rollers, caulk and sandpaper to the Fresno, CA, Habitat affiliate.
