CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Coatings Society celebrates 100 years in 2014, and the theme for the 2014 Sink or Swim symposium, “A Century of Innovation,” marks the anniversary. The symposium will be held June 3-4, 2014, at the Airport Marriott Hotel, Cleveland.

Speakers have been lined up to offer historical perspectives of where the industry has been and where it is going, as a society and an industry.  These include Keynote Speaker Chris Connor, CEO of The Sherwin-Williams Co.; Douglas Grossman, Chairman of Q-Lab Corp.; Theodor Provder, Eastern Michigan University and the Glidden Co.; John Du, retired, formerly of BYK Chemie USA; and Edward Bish, retired, formerly of The Jamestown Paint Co.

General sessions will include talks by experts in resins and polymers, additives, pigments, regulatory issues, and new technologies. Two short courses are offered in the afternoon, one covering the environmental and regulatory landscape and the other addressing the statistical design of experiments for coatings formulation. Tabletop exhibits will be on display on June 3 from 1:30-5:30 p.m., and a beer and wine social will take place at 5:00 p.m. on June 3.
