ORANGE COUNTY, CA – The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) has recognized Accella Performance Material’s MarChem Pacific facility for exemplary efforts with improving its environmental, health, safety and security program.

Accella’s MarChem Pacific facility participates in SOCMA’s ChemStewards® program, which encourages companies to operate their facilities in an environment that guarantees safety and environmental compliance to all stakeholders.

The Accella MarChem Pacific facility accepted a Bronze Performance Improvement Award at SOCMA’s 93rd Annual Dinner on December 8 in New York City. This is the first year the facility has received the award. Jim Gregg, MarChem Pacific Plant Manager, and Andy Harris, CEO of Accella Performance Materials, accepted the award on behalf of the company at the awards dinner.

This facility was recognized for its successful efforts to improve its environmental, health, safety and security training programs. Implementing the structured ChemStewards management process with an Online Safety Training Program is an example of these efforts. In addition to monthly safety meetings, this program allows employees to stay current on all safety requirements by completing readily available online training classes. As a result of these efforts, MarChem Pacific has no OSHA reportable accidents or lost time injuries. By promoting a safety culture, all employees at Accella Performance Materials proactively take responsibility for safety in their workplace, community and the environment.
