Friede joins Brenntag from Akzo Nobel N.V., where he is a member of the company’s executive committee, serving as chief commercial officer Performance Coatings. He will succeed Henri Nejade as chief operating officer Brenntag Specialties, who has chosen not to extend his contract by the end of June 30, 2023.
In his new role, the new vice president will be leading strategic development and growth initiatives within North America. He has more than 38 years of service with Gema in multiple positions; since 2006 he has been the general manager of Gema North America.
The new managing director will lead the strategic direction across a diverse portfolio, including coil and extrusion coatings, packaging coatings, wood finishes, and wood adhesives.
Salvat will continue to report to PPG senior vice president and general counsel, Anne Foulkes.The new appointee succeeds Ram Vadlamannati, who will transition to a new PPG role.
El Khatib will focus on the industrial side of NSM, managing domestic purchasing and inventory for its performance chemical lines. While at DePaul University, he did an internship with NAGASE Specialty Materials, where he was hired after graduation.
