Since 2017, Orion has disclosed its climate-related performance through CDP. Until now, the company has received a “C” score, indicating an awareness level of engagement. CDP says companies with a “B” score have reached the management level. Accordingly, a company with this score has addressed the environmental impacts of its business, and ensured good environmental management.

Under the PPA, the Covestro Integrated Site Shanghai will purchase approximately 300 gigawatt hours of green power annually from CGN's wind and solar farms in Lenghu, China. The agreement will reduce Covestro's carbon emissions in China by around 126,000 metric tons of CO2 per year.

Manufacturers of paints and coatings can now reduce their carbon footprint, every day, by using a liquid product recovery (often called 'pigging') technology, according to a new report from independent sustainability and energy consultancy Carbon-Zero.

The benefits of replacing paint lines with paint film systems have been recognized earlier, but difficult to implement due to the infrastructure for traditional paint already in place. Now, with new plants being built to manufacture electric vehicles and greater emphasis on sustainability, paint film systems are becoming more realistic alternatives to paint lines.

Five teams have been established following a recent Discovery Day. AkzoNobel says this has now set in motion the next phase of its initiative, which was launched with 28 partners – including customers, suppliers, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and academia – in May 2022.

The defoamer focuses on a minimized environmental impact and a maximized handprint by enabling formulators to develop high-performance and low-VOC, environmentally friendly waterborne formulations. It does not contain biocides, nor does it require SVHC labeling, and can be used in formulations complying with current standards.

The company installed new solar panels for energy production last month, and is now generating electricity from the panels. Both the instability caused by the current geopolitical situation and high energy prices have influenced the company’s decision to move to solar.
