The steel industry is a highly competitive world market. The industry is always in search of innovative and fresh manufacturing methods to improve quality and lower costs. One wouldn’t automatically think the metal stud industry utilizes cutting-edge technology to create their products, since studs are well hidden and only visible during construction, but this is a common misconception.
The coating of foils, the printing of labels or the gluing of electronic components are very different and demanding applications. However, they all require innovative production processes to maintain their appeal, durability and scratch-resistance. Heraeus Noblelight infrared and UV systems increase production speed and improve the quality of the drying process.
The financial impact of plant shut downs, reduced efficiency, capital replacement and maintenance due to biofouling in power, water and industrial facilities is estimated at millions of dollars.
Composite materials continue to develop their appeal across a wide range of industries, with demand in motorsport remaining strong. But for all of their merits, there are inherent flaws for composites placed in more volatile automotive applications, namely a low melting point, high flammability, poor abrasive resistance and relative transparency to electromagnetic interference.
An in-depth study was undertaken to correlate chromate conversion coating process variables to coating weights obtained on aluminum braze sheet coupons.
