Sherwin-Williams Opens Largest North American Plant

Sherwin-Williams has opened its expanded architectural paint and coatings manufacturing facility in Statesville, North Carolina, which the company says is now its largest plant in North America.
The project includes nearly 50,000 square feet of improvements, expanded production space, additional automation, four new rail spurs and related infrastructure intended to improve material handling and manufacturing efficiency.
The plant operates alongside Sherwin-Williams’ nearby distribution service center, connecting manufacturing, transportation and distribution operations.
PCI first covered the Statesville project in 2022, when Sherwin-Williams announced plans to invest at least $300 million in expanded architectural coatings manufacturing and distribution capacity and add more than 180 jobs. Those figures were part of the original project plan and were not restated as final project totals in the Sept. 30 opening announcement.
Sherwin-Williams also referenced the completed Statesville capacity during its Sept. 24 Financial Community Presentation, which PCI recently covered.
The completed project expands architectural coatings manufacturing and logistics capacity at the world’s largest coatings producer, with additional automation and transportation infrastructure supporting North American supply.
