Dr. Sonja Schulte, Editor-in-Chief of the European Coatings Journal, opened the European Coatings Congress on Monday morning. She announced that over 700 delegates have registered to attend this largest technical coatings congress in Europe.
According to a pre-conference survey among attendees of the American Coatings Conference, waterborne technology is seen as the most important future technology in the coatings industry.
Dow Coating Materials’ principal research scientist, Zhenwen Fu, has received first place in the prestigious Roon Awards competition, part of the 2014 American Coatings Conference.
At the plenary session of the American Coatings Conference, Steve Sides of the ACA announced that the winning paper of the prestigious American Coatings Award is “Stress Development and Film Formation in Multiphase Composite Latexes.”
The American Coatings Conference began Monday and will run until 12:30 on Wednesday. Organizers noted at the plenary session that they thought it would be difficult to break the 2012 attendance record, but are happy to report that 2014 is another record-breaking event.
Although the final count hasn’t been announced yet, it looks as if the number of delegates who attended the ECC could be higher than any previous year.
Sixteen posters were on display at the Congress area after the oral presentations were given on Monday. Poster contributors were available to explain and discuss their results during the poster session.
One of the sessions at the European Coatings Congress focused on technologies emerging at the university level that may someday be used to formulate coatings.
