Need to Know
- PCI’s Editorial Advisory Board supports editorial planning and content direction
- Members represent manufacturers, suppliers, consultants and regulatory organizations
- The board reviews and scores abstracts for the CTT Summit technical program
- Terri Stewart adds regulatory expertise from the Canadian Coatings Association
We rely on a small group of people outside of Paint & Coatings Industry (PCI) to help keep our content aligned with the realities of the paint and coatings industry. Our Editorial Advisory Board is part of how we do that.
The board brings together individuals working across different areas of the industry, from formulation and R&D to regulatory and market-facing roles. This mix gives us access to perspectives that reflect the full scope of the industry you work in, with the goal of covering the full picture of technologies and realities affecting this space.

Throughout the year, board members weigh in on emerging topics, share input on where we should be spending our editorial time, and help us stay focused on what matters most to formulators and chemists. They also play a role in reviewing and scoring abstracts for the Coatings Trends & Technologies (CTT) Summit, helping ensure the technical program is built on strong, relevant work.
We’ve recently expanded that group with the addition of Terri Stewart, M.Sc., vice president of regulatory affairs at the Canadian Coatings Association.
Terri brings more than 20 years of experience across government and industry, including nearly 17 years with Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency. Her work has focused on science-based regulation and the policy processes that shape how products move through the market. She is also known for her ability to connect technical, regulatory, and stakeholder perspectives in a way that leads to practical outcomes.
Her perspective comes at a time when regulatory demands continue to evolve quickly, often with direct implications for formulation work. As she shared when joining the board, “At a time of growing regulatory complexity, thoughtful, science-based dialogue is essential. I’m pleased to join PCI’s Editorial Advisory Board and contribute to collaboration that keeps regulatory approaches credible, effective and connected to real-world conditions.”
The rest of the board represents a cross-section of the paint and coatings industry. Members include Eric R. Byer, president and CEO of the Alliance for Chemical Distribution; Ali Javadi, Ph.D., technical team manager at Axalta; and Nancy Lockhart, who works in marketing of optical security and performance products and product line management of custom color solutions at VIAVI Solutions.
The group also includes Artur Palasz, Ph.D., technical director at Spektrochem’s Technical Center of Raw Materials for Architectural Paints; and Victoria Scarborough, Ph.D., vice president of collaborative innovation at The ChemQuest Group. Additional members include Gary Spilman, Ph.D., R&D director at Rust-Oleum; Kalsani Venkateshwarlu, Ph.D., scientist at PPG; and Kris Weigal, biobased business senior consultant at OmniTech.
We appreciate our Editorial Advisory Board and thank them for their work in the paint and coatings industry and with PCI.
