The Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) of the American Chemistry Council promotes the sustainable growth of the polyurethane industry, by identifying and managing issues that could impact the industry, in cooperation with user groups. Our members include the nation’s leading producers and distributors of chemicals and equipment used to make polyurethane and manufacture polyurethane products. CPI provides a single, strong and credible voice to advocate on behalf of the interests of the U.S. polyurethanes industry.
CPI helps build a stronger foundation for sustainable polyurethane chemistry by advocating for science-based research, reinforcing our commitment to environmental sustainability, fostering product health and safety, and supporting outreach and education. CPI's key critical issues include combustibility, environment, health and safety, recycling and recovery, building codes and standards, energy and climate change, chemical regulation, and transportation.
The polyurethane industry supports research and initiatives that serve our communities and customers. The business of polyurethane is a $41 billion enterprise and a key element of the U.S. economy. We employ more than 263,000 Americans, operate in over 850 locations in the U.S., and help create nearly 5 jobs for each job in the polyurethanes industry.
