MARIETTA, GA - Chemical company Kemira recently celebrated 25 years without a lost-time accident (LTA) at its site located in Marietta, GA. “This is a milestone very few manufacturing sites anywhere in the world can claim,” said Plant Manager Joey Garman in his opening remarks. Management members from Kemira’s Oil & Mining segment in the Americas were also present and thanked the team for their commitment and dedication to safety.

Kemira maintains a strong culture for safety through committed management, skilled and well-trained employees, consistent incident and observation reporting, and improvement actions addressing root causes. The company’s safety target is zero injuries. In his personal greeting to the 68 employees of the site, Kemira’s CEO Jari Rosendal thanked plant personnel for protecting the company’s most valuable assets: its people.

In addition to the LTA record, 19 of the site’s employees were acknowledged for having been at Marietta for the full 25-year milestone. These individuals represent more than 25 percent of the staff at Marietta and have played a significant role in building the foundation of the strong safety culture. One of them, Jeff McVey, Lab Supervisor, shared his view on how every employee can contribute to a safer working environment, saying, “I am so very proud of our plant and the safety milestone we’ve achieved. This was accomplished through employee diligence, attention to detail and true compassion for our coworkers' safety. I’m honored to have been part of the entire 25 years.”
