There are many commercial applications where both floors and walls must be sealed and protected from moisture. Many of those are in restaurants and food processing plants where walls are scrubbed down every day. AmCoat’s Director of Products and Applications Mike Moore said Floor Shield also helps protect interior walls but most importantly, where the floors and walls meet.

“We’re seeing the need for interior wall protection in everything from restaurants to bakeries and more,” said Moore. “Wherever interior walls get wet, Floor Shield makes an excellent, seamless barrier from floor to wall.”

One place water can wreak havoc is where the floor and wall meet. Concrete block and drywall are porous and the seam where floor and wall meet are particularly susceptible to moisture intrusion.

“That seam where the floor meets the wall — that’s when you can get rot, mildew and mold,” said Moore. “Many businesses have to wash down walls every day — Floor Shield is a complete system that’s hygienic, easy to clean and looks great — plus it’s non-absorbent.”

Other commercial applications include car washes, commercial kitchens, municipal shower stalls, dorms, jails and more. One recent application that’s taking off is bakeries.

“Our Floor Shield system is now being used in Flowers Bakeries in areas where hygiene and food prep is essential,” said Moore. “Commercial operations like Flowers choose Floor Shield because of its long-lasting formula, extremely low odor and the fact that it’s eco-friendly.”

Floor Shield’s polyaspartic formula also has another huge plus — same day completion.

“These businesses can’t be down for more than a day for maintenance items like this and that’s where Floor Shield shines,” said Moore. “We can be in and out in a day so they can resume operations as quickly as possible. With qualities like quick drying, low odor and a tough-as-nails finish — you can see why Floor Shield is hard to beat.”
