BASF Coatings is set to implement 100% renewable electricity at its North American sites in Greenville, Ohio and Blackman Township, Michigan. The transition is expected to be completed by January 2025 and will result in the company using renewable electricity for all of its operations at these sites.
The move is part of BASF Coatings’ broader sustainability strategy and is expected to result in significant environmental benefits. By using renewable electricity, the company will be able to reduce its carbon emissions by more than 11,000 tons annually. This will not only help BASF Coatings meet its own sustainability goals, but also support its customers in reducing their carbon footprints.
BASF Coatings’ Greenville site is responsible for the production of resins, E-Coats and clearcoats. The Blackman Township site, on the other hand, focuses on surface treatment solutions for the company’s Surface Treatment global business unit. By transitioning to renewable electricity, BASF Coatings is looking to minimize the environmental impact of its operations and support its customers in achieving their own sustainability targets.
The company’s decision to switch to renewable electricity is also in line with its broader commitment to sustainability. BASF Coatings is part of the larger BASF Group. The company is also working to reduce its overall environmental impact and support the transition to a more sustainable economy.
In addition to its North American sites, BASF Coatings is also working to increase its use of renewable electricity at its other locations around the world. The company currently operates 17 sites that rely on electricity generated from renewable sources.
BASF Coatings’ transition to 100% renewable electricity is expected to have a positive impact on the company’s operations and its customers. By reducing its carbon emissions, the company will be able to enhance the sustainability of its products and support its customers in achieving their own environmental goals.
