BASF Coatings Transitions Two North American Sites to Renewable Electricity

BASF Coatings has transitioned two North American production sites to 100% renewable electricity, effective January 2025.
The sites are located in Greenville, Ohio, and Blackman Township in Jackson County, Michigan. BASF said the change is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 11,000 tons annually.
The Greenville facility produces resins, E-coats and clearcoats. The Blackman Township site produces surface treatment solutions for BASF Coatings’ Surface Treatment global business unit under the Chemetall brand.
BASF said the site electricity imports are matched with renewable energy certificates provided by solar virtual power purchase agreements.
The company said 17 BASF Coatings sites worldwide now rely on electricity generated from renewable sources. BASF said the transition is intended to reduce the environmental impact of its operations while helping customers lower the carbon footprint associated with products sourced from the sites.
