Univar Solutions announced it has been selected as the exclusive distributor of BASF’s LuquaSorb® superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) for industrial applications in the United States and Canada. The agreement expands access to BASF’s high-performance, non-hazardous SAP technology across key markets, including coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers (CASE), energy and mining, water treatment and environmental remediation.

LuquaSorb® SAPs absorb and retain up to 500 times their weight in liquid, making them an effective solution for liquid management in diverse industries. Applications include hydro-swelling for underground cable protection, internal curing for concrete, and solidification of drilling fluids and mine tailings remediation. The polymers also support wastewater sludge stabilization and groundwater contaminant containment.

LuquaSorb® is available in three grades—Q1, M1, and B1—each tailored for specific gel strength, absorption speed, and capacity. The product line is now available through Univar Solutions’ distribution network.
