PPG announced the completion of its first Colorful Communities project in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), transforming the Al Ibtisama Centre for People with Disabilities in Sharjah. The initiative, part of the program’s 10th-anniversary celebrations, aimed to create an inspiring environment for more than 150 children, staff, and visitors at the center.
More than 120 volunteers, including PPG employees, their families, community members, and architecture students from Amity University, collaborated on the project. Volunteers painted 18 murals designed by the students and repainted three exterior fences, using nearly 53 gallons (200 liters) of Sigma Coatings™ paints by PPG. The murals illustrate themes of family bonds, exploration, and cultural identity, fostering creativity and a sense of belonging for the children.
“As we celebrate 10 years of the Colorful Communities program, we are proud to extend our impact to this region,” said Olga Kolevatova, PPG general manager, Middle East, Turkey, and Caspian Region. “This project exemplifies our commitment to enhancing educational spaces and creating vibrant, inspiring environments for children to thrive.”
Since 2015, PPG has completed nearly 600 Colorful Communities projects in over 50 countries, impacting more than 10.2 million people worldwide.
