AkzoNobel has released its digital Report 2024, detailing the company’s financial performance, strategic developments, and sustainability initiatives. Despite mixed market conditions, the company demonstrated profitability growth and strengthened its long-term competitiveness.

CEO Greg Poux-Guillaume reflected on the challenges of inflationary pressures, currency impacts, and unstable markets but emphasized the company’s resilience. “Although these headwinds spurred competitive intensity and tested our resilience, they also strengthened our determination to control our own destiny by stepping up self-help measures that ultimately boosted our performance,” he said.

The report covers four main areas: strategy and operations, sustainability, leadership and governance, and financial performance. Key sustainability highlights include a 41% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions compared to the 2018 baseline, with renewable electricity usage reaching 65%—marking significant progress toward the company’s 50% reduction target by 2030.

Looking ahead, Poux-Guillaume stated: “We’re making AkzoNobel stronger, more dynamic, and more competitive. This will serve us well when our end markets start growing again, putting us on track to deliver on our mid-term ambitions.”
