PPG announced the appointment of Peter Votruba-Drzal as vice president-elect, global sustainability, effective immediately. He will succeed Diane Kappas, who will retire from the role on July 1, 2024.
Votruba-Drzal, who joined PPG in 2005, will report to Irene Tasi, PPG senior vice president and chief growth officer. In his new role, he will lead efforts to expand PPG’s portfolio of sustainably advantaged products, reduce environmental impact across operations, and support customer sustainability goals.
He most recently led technical activities for PPG’s architectural coatings and traffic solutions businesses and previously directed research and product development for the company’s mobility, automotive, and industrial coatings segments. Votruba-Drzal holds degrees in materials science and engineering from Michigan State University, the University of Maryland, and Northwestern University.
Kappas, who has nearly 40 years of experience at PPG, was named the company’s first vice president, global sustainability in 2021. She held senior roles across business units and functions including coatings, supply chain, procurement, and EHS. Kappas also founded PPG’s Women’s Leadership Council and was a founding member of its LGBTQ Council.
