Oregon Business & Industry announced Daimler Truck North America and NIC Industries as recipients of the 2025 Oregon Visionary Award. The award is the organization’s highest honor and will be presented at the annual Vision Oregon Event, to be held Oct. 22 at the Portland Art Museum.
The Visionary Award recognizes individuals, companies and organizations that help drive economic prosperity in Oregon through long-standing service to their communities. Honorees are selected for their commitment to practical, inclusive solutions and their ability to unite Oregonians around shared values.
Daimler Truck North America, which employs more than 3,000 people in the state, has produced vehicles in Oregon since the 1940s. The company has led the industry in efficiency innovations, from founding Freightliner to reduce vehicle weight to opening North America’s first wind tunnel for full-size commercial vehicles. Recent efforts include electric vehicle development at its Portland facility and the 2021 launch of “Electric Island,” a public EV charging site in partnership with Portland General Electric.
NIC Industries, based in White City, manufactures advanced coatings sold in nearly 90 countries. The company employs about 250 people in Southern Oregon and ranks among the top 20 paint manufacturers in the United States. Known for its Cerakote brand, NIC produces liquid ceramic coatings used across industries, from automotive to aerospace and defense. CEO Brian Hall has helped grow the business from a powder coatings manufacturer into a global supplier of high-performance technologies.
The 2025 Vision Oregon Event will also feature a keynote and panel on entrepreneurship in Oregon, and will include the announcement of the winner of the 2025 Coolest Thing Made in Oregon contest.
