BASF Intertrade AG and AltaGas Ltd. signed a long-term commercial agreement for butane supply via the Ridley Island Energy Export Facility, a terminal under construction in British Columbia. The agreement, set to commence in 2027, will support BASF’s production footprint in Asia by diversifying its cracker feedstock portfolio with competitive and reliable supply from Western Canada.
“This agreement marks a significant step in strengthening BASF’s global feedstock supply portfolio,” said Matthias Dohrn, president of global procurement at BASF and chairman of the supervisory board of BASF Intertrade AG.
AltaGas noted that the contract diversifies its downstream customer base and further de-risks its export operations. “The addition of a high-quality counterparty such as BASF further de-risks our export platform,” said Vern Yu, president and CEO of AltaGas.
