Cal Poly Plans Winter 2026 Coatings Course

The Western Coatings Technology Center at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, announced it will host its annual Winter Polymers and Coatings Short Course from Monday, February 16, through Friday, February 20, 2026. The program is presented in cooperation with Cal Poly’s Conference and Event Planning Department.
The one-week course covers multiple aspects of coating technology with an emphasis on liquid coatings, both waterborne and solvent-based. Sessions are led by academic and industry experts and include discussions on VOC regulations and air quality issues. Participants are expected to have some exposure to the coatings field along with working knowledge in chemistry and related sciences.
The program provides a balance of fundamental and applied topics to ensure participants gain insight into both research and practical use. Early bird registration is available until January 9, 2026, at a price of $1,900. The regular registration fee is $2,000.
Dr. Ray Fernando, director of the Kenneth N. Edwards Western Coatings Technology Center, said the program continues to offer a comprehensive overview of the industry for professionals looking to advance their knowledge.
