Pittsburgh Paints Co. announced its 2026 Color of the Year, Warm Mahogany (PPG1060-7), a rich red that is both dynamic and refined. The hue captures a sense of human connection and creativity across residential, hospitality, and commercial design.
Warm Mahogany draws away from fleeting color trends to create adaptable spaces suited for rest and social connection. Its brown undertones ground a room while its lively red hues add warmth and abundance. The color thrives in environments that encourage conversation, such as dining rooms and cafes, while adding sophistication to quiet settings like libraries and study rooms.
“In 2026, we anticipate consumers will embrace opportunities to rest, rejuvenate and connect with others, prioritizing their wellness across all aspects of their lives,” said Ashley McCollum, color expert at Pittsburgh Paints Co. “The desire for increased social intimacy requires spaces that promote togetherness, a core design focus that moves away from abiding to trends and delivers refined aesthetics that feel timeless and classic.”
Evoking shades of rust and reddened soils, Warm Mahogany links to tradition and craftsmanship while connecting to nature’s restorative qualities. McCollum said this substantial hue’s expressive mood will encourage creativity and artistry. “Just as quiet luxury brought us years of warm neutrals, our spaces now require a color that can feel both calming and adventurous,” she said. “Warm Mahogany is effortlessly pragmatic and daring, quiet and loud, introverted and extroverted. It’s vivid enough to draw immediate attention and reserved enough to make a timeless statement.”
The 2026 Color of the Year aligns with four key design themes:
• Portal: A light, imaginative aesthetic that balances natural spaces with AI-inspired illusions and creative finishes.
• Ode: A moody, introspective design approach focused on social intimacy and ornamentation.
• Collective: A vibrant theme centered on community, energy, and shared creativity.
• Heirloom: A timeless design movement emphasizing refined, high-quality materials over temporary trends.
Warm Mahogany is available through PPG Paints™ brand products at PPG Paints stores, independent retailers, The Home Depot®, and HD Supply® locations across the United States. Midwest shoppers can also find the color in Pittsburgh Paints & Stains® products, available exclusively at Menards® stores.
