A municipal water tank in Fargo, North Dakota is the 2025 Tank of the Year winner in Tnemec Company’s annual competition. A panel of water tank enthusiasts selected the project for artistic value, significance to the community and project challenges. As the 2025 contest winner, the tank will appear in the most prominent position in Tnemec’s 2026 Tank of the Year calendar alongside the other top finalists.
The winning tank features Tnemec’s UV-resistant fluoropolymer finish, Series 700 HydroFlon, specified to provide long-term color and gloss protection for the mural’s detailed graphics.

Across North America, communities continue to transform their water tanks into lasting landmarks that celebrate both utility and local pride.”
Project Highlights In Fargo
Fargo’s new downtown water tower replaces three aging multi-leg tanks and redefines the city skyline. At 2.5 million gallons, it is the largest elevated water storage facility in North Dakota. With its central location, the tower served as a canvas for Fargo’s first public art installation. The city gathered input from residents, businesses, universities and staff to capture local identity. The finished mural weaves together the Red River of the North, the city skyline, local outdoor activities and regional symbols into a single, bold landmark.
