IMCD Expands Southeast Asia Technical Capabilities with New Laboratory

IMCD Group announced the opening of a new construction laboratory in Indonesia, expanding its technical support capabilities for coatings and construction customers across Southeast Asia.
The new construction laboratory complements IMCD’s existing coatings laboratory in Jakarta, creating a combined technical hub where technical and commercial teams, customers and principals can collaborate on formulation development, testing and technical problem-solving.
IMCD has operated a coatings laboratory in Jakarta since 2018, providing technical advice, formulation development and laboratory services to coatings and construction producers. The site was fully refurbished in 2024 to strengthen collaboration and advance formulation innovation. The addition of the construction laboratory builds on that investment.
The combined coatings and construction laboratory focuses on regional formulation optimization, troubleshooting, accelerated product development and training initiatives. In coatings, the scope includes decorative paints, industrial metal coatings, wood, plastic and automotive coatings. Construction applications include dry mix mortars, flooring resins and waterproofing systems, concrete blocks, bricks and masonry, joint fillers, sealants and ready-to-use renders.
“With both the coatings and construction laboratories and experts working side by side, we can support our partners in a more connected and effective way,” said Pimsiraya Vichaidit, director, coatings and construction, Asia-Pacific, at IMCD. “It means faster development, stronger troubleshooting and solutions that are designed around the realities of the regional market.”
“This milestone reflects the commitment and teamwork of our local and regional teams, working closely with our partners,” said Naihong Yang, technical director, coatings and construction, Asia-Pacific, at IMCD. “It is about creating practical, high-quality and sustainable solutions that help our customers move faster and help our customers advance faster in their product developments.”
The laboratory opening follows a series of recent IMCD investments in Indonesia, including enhancements to food and nutrition, pharmaceuticals and microbiology technical facilities.
This expansion reflects continued investment in Distribution infrastructure supporting paint and coatings formulation and application across Asia-Pacific.
