ACD Responds to Supreme Court Tariff Ruling

The Alliance for Chemical Distribution responded after the Court overturned tariffs imposed under the emergency powers statute.
Alliance for Chemical Distribution issued a statement following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. The ruling stems from the consolidated cases Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump and V.O.S. Selections, Inc. v. Trump, which examined whether the President had authority under IEEPA to impose tariffs.
In its statement, ACD said the organization supports the Court’s decision and emphasized the impact of the tariffs on chemical distributors, many of which are small businesses.
“ACD supports the Court’s ruling today,” said Eric R. Byer, president and CEO of ACD. “ACD members, many of whom are small businesses, have navigated cost burdens and uncertainties that have adversely impacted the ability to import and deliver the chemical products essential to American’s health and safety. ACD is reviewing the Court’s ruling and it is our hope this finally brings clarity in order for our members to continue to contribute to domestic economic growth and safely distribute the essential chemical products used in nearly every industry.”
The organization said it is reviewing the decision and assessing its implications for chemical distribution and supply chain stability.
