Cal Poly Announces Summer Polymers and Coatings Short Course

The Western Coatings Technology Center at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, in cooperation with the Cal Poly Conference & Event Planning Department, will offer its annual Summer Polymers and Coatings Short Course Aug. 10-14, 2026.
The one-week course brings together academic and industrial experts in coatings. It covers multiple aspects of coating technology with an emphasis on liquid coatings, including waterborne and solvent-based systems.
Participants will hear from industry and academic experts on a range of topics, including VOC and air quality aspects of coatings agencies. The program is designed for participants with some exposure to the coatings field and a working knowledge of chemistry and related sciences.
The course will run from 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, through noon Friday, Aug. 14. Early bird pricing is available through July 3, 2026.
The short course is led by Dr. Ray Fernando, director of the Kenneth N. Edwards Western Coatings Technology Center at Cal Poly.
