APV Coatings Supports San Antonio Façade Restoration

APV Engineered Coatings’ NeverFade® Exterior Paints were used in a façade restoration at The Carlyle condominium in San Antonio.
The project addressed recurring water-intrusion issues and refreshed weathered aluminum trim throughout the 12-story residential building. Work included refinishing trim on approximately 1,000 windows, 140 sets of sliding doors and 500 balcony panels, representing more than 20,000 linear feet of surface area.
According to APV, the original anodized aluminum had oxidized after decades of exposure, leaving a faded appearance and visible discoloration. Restoration contractor Surmac Inc. chemically cleaned and hand-abraded the metal trim before applying one coat of APV W-1650 Bonding Primer and two coats of NeverFade Metal Restoration Topcoat, custom formulated to match the building’s original gold-bronze finish.
The project also included resealing window and door openings, masonry repairs and application of a waterproof, sun-reflective coating to the building’s brick surfaces.
APV said the PVDF-based NeverFade system was selected for its weatherability, color retention and suitability for field-applied metal restoration. Surmac completed the work in just under three months.
