Pittsburgh Paints Expands Protective Coatings Portfolio Under New Brand

Pittsburgh Paints Co. has launched the Pittsburgh Paints Protective Coatings brand, replacing the former PPG High Performance Coatings identity and expanding the company’s offerings for architectural, commercial and industrial applications.
The portfolio includes existing full-system coating solutions, new product technologies and Pittsburgh Paints Co.’s exclusive distribution of PPG Protective & Marine Coatings.
“We’re delivering the trusted formulas, proven performance and reliability our customers have depended on for 150 years, with a new name and sleek new labels,” said Dennis Karnstein, president and general manager, commercial, Pittsburgh Paints Co.
The first product introduced under the new branding is Building Renewal NeverFade Exterior Coatings with Kynar Aquatec PVDF resin. The water-based, low-VOC system is designed to extend the service life of industrial and commercial building materials exposed to ultraviolet radiation, thermal cycling and chemical pollution.
The system includes four products:
- Original Base for primed wood, stucco, vinyl, masonry, concrete, fiber cement and exterior insulation and finish systems
- Metal Base for primed steel, aluminum, galvanized steel, Galvalume and coil-coated metals
- Universal Primer
- Bonding Primer
According to the company, the system complies with the AMPP SSPC Paint 47 standard and carries a 15-year warranty. Pittsburgh Paints said the coating can help building owners avoid full repaint cycles and reduce the need to replace exterior materials.
“By adding Building Renewal NeverFade coatings to our already strong product lineup, we’re delivering a premium-tier product with industry-trusted innovative technology that delivers extreme weatherability,” Karnstein said.
The NeverFade system joins Pittsburgh Paints Co.’s existing Building Renewal portfolio, which includes aliphatic urethanes and automotive-grade polyurethanes.
The company plans to transition the full protective coatings portfolio to the Pittsburgh Paints branding over the next 12 months. The updated labels will include application information, mix ratios and QR codes linking to technical data.
The products will be available through Pittsburgh Paints stores, select dealers and the company’s online channels.
