Hempel Posts 17-Point Jump in 2026 EcoVadis Assessment

Hempel A/S has received a gold medal in its 2026 EcoVadis sustainability assessment after earning a score of 80, its highest result to date.
The score places Hempel among the top 5% of companies assessed by EcoVadis during the 12 months before the medal’s issue date. It represents a 17-point increase from the company’s 2025 score of 63, which earned a bronze medal.
EcoVadis evaluates companies across four areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
“This achievement is a milestone for Hempel and reflects the progress we are making as a company,” said Sofia Mavropoulou, vice president of sustainability at Hempel. “Being awarded a gold medal by EcoVadis is a strong validation of our Sustainability Mission.”
Hempel attributed the year-over-year improvement to expanded documentation, more accurate reporting and collaboration among teams throughout the company. The coatings manufacturer said the work was intended to ensure its reported sustainability data more closely reflects operational performance.
Hempel supplies coatings for the decorative, marine, infrastructure and energy markets. The company said its sustainability strategy focuses on creating customer value through more efficient and responsible products while reducing the environmental impact of its own operations.
