The ChemQuest Group appointed Cheng-Le Zhao, Ph.D., vice president. Zhao brings more than 35 years of global research, technology and business leadership experience in specialty chemicals, including emulsion polymers, polyurethanes, waterborne coatings, adhesives and construction materials.
Cheng-Le ZhaoDuring his career at BASF, Zhao held technical and leadership roles across North America, Europe and Asia. His positions included regional head of technology and development for Asia Pacific, director of technology for BASF’s Dispersions & Pigments division in North America and R&D manager for BASF Polyurethanes.
Zhao is an inventor or co-inventor on more than 30 patents and an author or co-author of 32 scientific publications. His technical work includes latex film formation, multiphase emulsion-polymer design, low-VOC technologies and structure-property-performance relationships in waterborne systems.
Zhao’s background in emulsion-polymer design, latex film formation and waterborne systems aligns directly with ChemQuest’s coatings technology-development and consulting work.
