LED-UV Strips Measure Dose Directly on Substrates

Hoenle expanded its UV Scan MACS dosimetry system with macsStrips 950 LED, sensor strips tuned to 365-, 385- and 395-nanometer wavelengths and a dose range of 60 to 950 millijoules per square centimeter. The self-adhesive strips use delayed phosphorescence and are individually calibrated before use.
The strips measure UV dose directly on a substrate, allowing localized evaluation of intensity variations within an LED array. Hoenle said they require no refrigeration and remain stable for more than 12 months under standard room conditions.
The compact strips can be used on three-dimensional surfaces and in space-constrained printing and coating applications. The reader stores up to 2,000 measurements locally and exports CSV files through USB without requiring a smartphone or cloud connection.
Substrate-level dose data can help UV-curing operations identify local intensity variation, a process-control consideration for consistent coating cure across complex or space-constrained parts.
