Lloyd’s Register Verifies Marine Performance Analysis Method
Lloyd’s Register verified that International, AkzoNobel’s marine coatings brand, applies an ISO 19030-compliant methodology when analyzing vessel performance data. The standard provides a consistent framework for measuring changes in hull and propeller performance, including speed loss.
International subsequently used the methodology to report that its Intercept 8500 LPP coating indicated speed loss of up to 1.2% over a docking cycle. The release did not state that Lloyd’s Register independently verified that specific coating result.
AkzoNobel said speed-loss outcomes also depend on coating selection, application quality, vessel operation and maintenance. Lloyd’s Register said standardized analysis can strengthen confidence in performance reporting used for operational and investment decisions.
ISO 19030-based analysis gives marine-coatings users a consistent framework for assessing hull performance while keeping methodology verification distinct from individual coating results.
