LANXESS Raises Adipic Acid Prices Worldwide
The specialty chemicals company said the adjustment reflects ongoing, cumulative cost increases, including significantly higher raw material and energy costs. According to LANXESS, despite efforts to mitigate cost increases and maintain stable pricing, the adjustment is necessary to support the long-term reliability and sustainability of supplies.
LANXESS lists adipic acid as a key building block for polyurethane, coatings, polyamide 66, plasticizer and specialty chemistry applications.
The Aug. 6 increase follows a separate LANXESS adipic acid price increase announced in January 2026, when the company raised prices by an average of €100 per ton worldwide.
The increase is relevant to coatings manufacturers because adipic acid is used in polyurethane and coatings applications and adds to ongoing pricing pressures affecting coatings raw materials.
