PPG Breaks Ground on $280 Million Ohio Coatings Expansion
PPG has broken ground on a new advanced manufacturing facility at its existing site in Delaware, Ohio, as part of a more than $280 million investment to expand automotive coatings production.
The 100,000-square-foot facility will add advanced waterborne basecoat and primer production, clearcoat manufacturing, real-time quality evaluation and automated material movement. PPG said the new processes are designed to reduce waste while improving water and energy efficiency.
The project is expected to create approximately 100 full-time jobs, adding to PPG’s existing workforce of about 450 employees at the Delaware site. Operations are expected to begin in 2028.
PPG initially announced the Delaware expansion in March. The company said the investment will increase its capacity to serve automotive OEMs and parts suppliers across North America.
The groundbreaking moves a major North American automotive coatings investment into the construction phase, adding production capacity alongside greater automation and more efficient manufacturing processes.
