Styrene Suppressant Targets Thermoset Composite Processing
The Lubrizol Corporation has introduced Solplus™ ES2000, a styrene emission suppressant designed for ambient-cured thermoset composite systems.
Developed for composite manufacturers and formulators seeking to reduce styrene emissions during processing, the specialty additive is intended for use in unsaturated polyester, DCPD and vinyl ester resin systems. It helps support worker safety, regulatory readiness and sustainability goals while preserving laminate performance.
Solplus ES2000 is supplied in a universal oil-based carrier. According to Lubrizol, its chemistry was selected to minimize the risk of influencing interlaminar adhesion. The additive forms a barrier at the surface of the laminate to help reduce styrene vapor loss during curing.
The product is designed to help maintain laminate quality and interlaminar adhesion while supporting renewable-content formulation goals with 93% bio-based content. It is available in Asia Pacific, EMEAI and North America.
