The company operates two integrated production facilities in Jacksonville, Florida, and Colonels Island, Georgia, serving customers in North America and international markets. Its portfolio includes dihydromyrcenol, linalool and anethole, with applications in perfumes, household products and food and beverage flavorings. Mutares said AmeriTerpenes also supplies customers across the broader industrial chemicals market.

According to Mutares, AmeriTerpenes holds leading positions in several of its core products, including as the largest North American producer of dihydromyrcenol. The acquisition establishes another platform within Mutares' Chemicals & Materials segment, which the company created following its acquisition of SABIC's Engineering Thermoplastics business.

Mutares said the transaction also expands its presence in the United States as the investment company pursues additional growth in its Chemicals & Materials segment. Financial terms beyond AmeriTerpenes' reported annual revenue were not disclosed.

Pine-derived chemicals have applications across a range of industrial formulations, including paints and coatings, adhesives, printing inks and resins. Terpene derivatives can be used as solvents, intermediates and feedstocks for downstream resin chemistry. AmeriTerpenes' announcement, however, does not specifically identify coatings companies among its customers or state that its individual products are sold into coatings formulations.

The acquisition adds a $200 million renewable, pine-based specialty chemicals business to Mutares' growing Chemicals & Materials portfolio. While Mutares does not specifically identify coatings as an AmeriTerpenes end market, terpene and other pine-derived chemistries have established uses across coatings raw materials, making the transaction relevant to the broader specialty-chemicals supply chain.
