PPG Completes Colorful Communities Project at German Primary School

PPG completed a Colorful Communities® project at Hermann-Butzer-Schule, a primary school in Schwieberdingen, Germany, bringing together employees from the company's Ingersheim R&D facility, parents, school representatives and local partners.
Volunteers transformed outdoor learning and recreational spaces at the school's Bergschule and Talschule sites. Work included colorful ground games and interactive markings intended to encourage movement, creativity and social interaction.
The project also included refurbishment of wooden fences, playhouses, climbing structures, an outdoor classroom, a table tennis area and other outdoor elements. A design developed with Studio Vierkant incorporated wall graphics and graffiti-inspired elements.
PPG provided a $51,000 grant, including more than 130 gal of Sigma Coatings™ products.
Materials included Sigma Bravasol waterborne coating for ground markings and exterior applications and Sigma Coatings Contour Aqua PU Gloss paint for wooden benches. The latter uses PPG's LTA™ + resin technology to provide a hard, scratch-resistant finish designed to repel grease and dirt.
"This project has created a remarkable transformation across our school grounds, making them more vibrant, welcoming, and inspiring places for children," said Christoph Cimander, principal of Hermann-Butzer-Schule.
Martin Maurer, PPG technical director, customer development, Germany, Automotive OEM Coatings, said the project demonstrates what can be achieved when schools, parents, community partners and company volunteers work together.
PPG's Colorful Communities program has completed more than 635 projects in over 50 countries since 2015, according to the company.
