Thiele Kaolin Raises Prices, With Some Increases Above 10%
Thiele Kaolin LLC has implemented a price increase of up to 10% or more as contracts allow, effective Sept. 1, 2026.
The company said certain grades and market segments will receive significantly higher increases depending on packaging, chemical treatment, product form and logistics.
Thiele attributed the adjustment to continuing cost pressure involving energy, mining, raw materials and logistics. The company said the increase is needed to maintain its quality and service standards.
The price notice was signed by Thomas O. Adrien, executive vice president of sales and technical for Burgess Pigment Co., and Allen Sexton, vice president of sales, marketing and technical service for Thiele Kaolin.
Burgess Pigment completed its acquisition of Thiele in July. The transaction brought together two Sandersville, Georgia-based suppliers of kaolin pigments and functional mineral products. Thiele serves paper, packaging, coatings, construction materials and other industrial markets.
Kaolin products are used in coatings as pigments, extenders and functional mineral additives. Their effects can include changes in opacity, rheology, film properties, gloss and formulation cost.
The supplier did not provide a universal grade-by-grade schedule. The notice’s wording should not be interpreted as a flat 10% increase across every Thiele product.
The increase is relevant to manufacturers following paint and coating pigments, including kaolin extenders and functional minerals used in architectural and industrial formulations.
