Burgess Pigment Completes Thiele Kaolin Acquisition
Burgess Pigment completed its acquisition of Thiele Kaolin Company, bringing together two specialty-minerals businesses headquartered in Sandersville, Georgia. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Thiele supplies kaolin clay and silica products from mining and processing facilities in the United States and Europe. Its products serve coatings, paper, packaging, construction materials and other industrial applications. Burgess Pigment supplies hydrous and anhydrous kaolin products used in paints and coatings, adhesives, inks, wire and cable and construction materials.
The companies said the transaction expands their combined kaolin portfolio, supply capabilities and technical and research resources. Burgess Pigment and Thiele are now wholly owned subsidiaries of a new holding company owned by Burgess Pigment’s existing shareholders.
Kaolin is used in paint and coatings formulations, making the combined product portfolio and supply footprint relevant to manufacturers sourcing functional mineral ingredients.
