AkzoNobel Opens Aerospace Coatings Facility in Thailand
AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings has opened a color blending and distribution facility in Chonburi, Thailand, to support aviation customers across the Asia-Pacific region.
The opening ceremony was held Aug. 25 and included tours of the production floor, quality-control laboratory and distribution areas.
The facility will blend aerospace topcoats locally and provide regional access to primers, thinners and curing solutions. AkzoNobel said the operation is intended to shorten lead times and improve product availability and technical support.
The site will serve commercial aviation operators, maintenance, repair and overhaul providers, original equipment manufacturers and other industry partners.
The Chonburi facility is located east of Pattaya and approximately 90 minutes from Bangkok’s primary international airport, according to company-supplied information.
AkzoNobel did not disclose the project’s investment amount, annual blending capacity, staffing level or the individual topcoat products that will be manufactured at the site.
The company’s aerospace business supplies coatings for commercial aircraft exteriors, structures, interiors, general aviation and defense applications.
