Redex USA has introduced Levelflex®, a modular multizone tension leveler designed for continuous processing lines.
The company says the system stretches material to within 95% of its yield strength, allowing mills to correct flatness defects in hard-to-flatten materials, including aluminum alloys, with fewer passes and less scrap.
Levelflex is available in two configurations. Pure stretch mode uses an open-loop setup and preset cassette for alloys sensitive to roll marking or edge cracking. Closed-loop tension measurement uses load cells to measure strip tension across the material’s width and reposition the cassette during processing of thick-gauge strip. This is designed to eliminate crossbow without a separate post-process check.
Both configurations are designed to preserve strip surface and edge integrity while maintaining tight flatness tolerances across the coil. The system is intended for coating and heat-treatment lines processing can stock and automotive-grade materials.

The system is relevant to coil coatings operations because strip flatness can affect coating adhesion and downstream formability.
